
The Philadelphia 76ers dethroned the New York Knicks 130-119 for their third straight victory and won at Madison Square Garden for the second time this season on Saturday night.
Tyrese Maxey led the Sixers with 36 points, while Joel Embiid and VJ Edgecombe had 26 each. Paul George added 15 points, and Quentin Grimes with 10.
Meanwhile, Knicks star Jalen Brunson dropped 31 points, but not enough to end their back-to-back loss leading three straight this season.
Karl-Anthony Towns added 23 points and 14 rebounds after missing one game due to illness.
Deuce McBride scored 20, OG Anunoby 19, and Mikal Bridges 12 for the Knicks.
New York was ahead 30-25 when the 76ers scored the final six points of the first quarter and led 31-30.
The Sixers increased their run to 9-0 when Edgecombe opened the second quarter with a three-pointer, but Anunoby and Jordan Clarkson answered back-to-back three to put the Knicks back in front.
Philadelphia went ahead by 13 before New York scored the last five points of the second quarter and cut their deficit to 66-58 at halftime.
Embiid’s two free throws gave the Sixers their largest lead at 96-77 with 3:13 remaining in the third quarter.
New York’s 10-3 run pulled them within 99-87 heading into the fourth.
Towns opened the final quarter with his three-point play with 9:59 left led his team bring down the lead into 103-94
Philadelphia regained a 15-point lead, but Anunoby’s free throws with 2:08 left got the Knicks to 121-114.
The 76ers will host the Nuggets, while the Knicks will visit the Pistons on Monday.
