Kings forward Keegan Murray has been diagnosed with a mild strain in his right calf following an MRI, according to information shared by Sean Cunningham of NBC Sacramento.

The injury occurred during Tuesday’s loss to Detroit, and Murray is expected to be reevaluated in about a week. As a result, he is likely to miss at least the next four games before the team takes another look at his status.

The Kings later confirmed the diagnosis in an official statement, as relayed by Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee.

The setback comes during a season that has already been disrupted for Murray, who previously missed the first 15 games after undergoing surgery in mid-October to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb.

Despite the interruptions, the 25-year-old has been a major contributor when available.

He was logging heavy minutes – enough to rank second in the league at 37.1 per game if he had met the minimum games requirement – while averaging 14.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 1.7 blocks across 15 appearances.

His shooting efficiency stood at .438 from the field, .263 from three-point range, and .765 from the free-throw line before the injury.
