The Nets have added forward Chaney Johnson on a two-way deal, according to Brian Lewis of The New York Post.
The 6’7” wing joins Brooklyn after spending the early part of the season in the G League, and his signing fills the league’s only remaining two-way roster spot, meaning no additional transaction was required to make room for him.
Johnson, who played his college ball at Auburn, was an important rotation piece on the Tigers squad that reached the Final Four last season.
During his senior year in 2024/25, he averaged 9.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks per game while logging 23.5 minutes across 38 appearances.
Despite that production, he went undrafted in June and later joined Cleveland for training camp before being waived from his Exhibit 10 contract.
The 23-year-old has since found his footing with the Cleveland Charge, where he has been productive to open the 2025/26 campaign.
Through 16 G League games, he is averaging 12.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.1 blocks in 25.5 minutes per contest, while shooting efficiently from the field, beyond the arc, and at the free-throw line.
