The New York Knicks are open to moving Guerschon Yabusele ahead of the Feb. 5 trade deadline as they continue to evaluate their roster.
Yabusele, who signed a short-term deal in free agency, has struggled to carve out a consistent role, playing limited minutes while shooting poorly from the field and from three-point range.
Around the league, there is a belief that New York would need to attach an asset to facilitate a deal, as his contract alone may not be enough to draw interest.
Beyond Yabusele, the Knicks have explored ways to add either another ballhandler or frontcourt depth. Behind Jalen Brunson, the team lacks a proven veteran point guard, while Tyler Kolek remains a work in progress despite recent flashes of promise.
In the frontcourt, Mitchell Robinson is being carefully managed due to injuries, and depth behind him and Karl-Anthony Towns is thin.
With second-apron restrictions limiting flexibility, New York may wait closer to the deadline to determine whether internal development or an external move makes the most sense.
