The Phoenix Suns say Jalen Green is continuing to move in the right direction in his recovery from a strained right hamstring, but he is still expected to miss at least two to three more weeks before being reevaluated.
The team has not rushed his return after multiple setbacks earlier in the season.
Green’s hamstring issues date back to training camp, when he first suffered the strain and later aggravated it during his ramp-up.
After missing the opening stretch of the season, he briefly returned in early November, only to re-injure the hamstring again within minutes of his second game back.
Since then, Phoenix has taken a cautious approach, with head coach Jordan Ott acknowledging the need to be conservative.
The extended absence is unusual for Green, who had been one of the league’s more durable young guards prior to this season.
Acquired from the Houston Rockets in the blockbuster deal involving Kevin Durant, Green is in the first year of a three-year, $105 million extension.
For now, the Suns appear focused on long-term health rather than accelerating his return.
