Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade ended a three-game losing streak with a dramatic 90-89 victory against Virtus Bologna on Friday, December 19, at Belgrade Arena. The Serbian side overcame 19 lead changes to secure a win in the final seconds.
The game was tightly contested throughout, with both teams exchanging baskets and momentum. Zvezda opened a small advantage early, but Virtus, led by Carsen Edwards and Luca Vildoza, repeatedly fought back to stay in contention.
Jared Butler delivered the decisive blow with a layup in the closing seconds, giving the hosts the narrow edge. Codi Miller-McIntyre spearheaded Zvezda’s offense with 21 points, 10 assists, and four rebounds while hitting nine of 14 shots.
Jordan Nwora added 20 points and three rebounds, and both Chima Moneke and Semi Ojeleye reached double figures to contribute to the team effort. The hosts shot 65.8% on two-pointers but managed only 30% from three-point range, showing efficiency near the rim.
Edwards starred for Virtus with 29 points, hitting critical shots to keep the Italians in the game. Vildoza added 16 points, but turnovers proved costly, as Virtus committed 17 compared to Zvezda’s 10.
The win improves Crvena Zvezda to 10-7 in EuroLeague play. The team will travel to face Paris Basketball next Tuesday, while Virtus, now 8-9, prepares to host Olympiacos Piraeus in a week.
