Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade continued its late-season surge on Friday, January 23, defeating Virtus Bologna 102–93 at Virtus Arena to secure a third straight road win in EuroLeague play.
The victory lifted the Serbian side to 14–10 and opened a three-game cushion over Virtus, which dropped to 11–13 and sits just outside the playoff places. All three wins in Zvezda’s current streak have come away from home, each with 100 or more points scored.
The offensive outburst marked a sharp shift for a team that had reached the century mark only six times in its previous 339 EuroLeague games. Despite ongoing injury issues, the Belgrade club has found rhythm, balance, and depth at a crucial point in the season.
Zvezda took control early and never relinquished momentum, pouring in 82 points over the first three quarters, a new club record in the competition.
The visitors also posted season highs with 16 made three-pointers and 31 assists. The ball movement repeatedly punished Virtus rotations and produced high-percentage looks across the floor.
Seven different Zvezda players scored in double figures, a first in the club’s EuroLeague history. Jared Butler led the way with 16 points, providing steady shot creation and tempo control in the backcourt.
Jordan Nwora followed with 15 points after opening the game with three consecutive three-pointers that set the tone. Nikola Kalinic and Chima Moneke added 13 apiece, while Ebuka Izundu finished with 12.
Semi Ojeleye contributed 11, and Codi Miller-McIntyre rounded out the group with 10 points and 12 assists. Miller-McIntyre did not commit a turnover, recording a rare double-double and becoming just the 12th player in EuroLeague history to reach at least 12 assists without a giveaway.
Virtus stayed competitive through individual efforts, led by Mouhamet Diouf’s 21 points and Derrick Alston Jr.’s 18. Carsen Edwards finished with 16 pointsThe hosts shot efficiently inside the arc but could not match Zvezda’s perimeter accuracy or ball movement.
Crvena Zvezda will play six of its next seven games at home, starting against Dubai Basketball on January 30. Virtus travels to face AS Monaco on the same night.
