Garland, 25, is in the third year of his five-year, $197 million contract and has been a pivotal player for the Cavaliers. This season, he is averaging 26.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 9.0 assists over 25 games.
Cleveland currently holds a 15-12 record in the 2025-26 season, anchored by Garland alongside Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley. Mitchell is contributing 30.7 points per game, while Mobley adds 19.1 points and 9.3 rebounds. Despite the team’s talent, the Cavaliers may consider leveraging Garland’s market value to strengthen their roster.
The Timberwolves, sitting at 17-9, have a backcourt led by Anthony Edwards and Mike Conley. Edwards is averaging 28.7 points per game with 4.9 rebounds, while Conley contributes 10.3 points and 10.3 assists per game. Adding Garland could provide Minnesota with a second elite playmaker to complement their offensive structure.
Orlando has a 15-11 record, relying on Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero in the frontcourt and Desmond Bane at guard.
