The Atlanta Hawks held off the Philadelphia 76ers 120-117 on Sunday at State Farm Arena, improving to 15-12 while the 76ers dropped to 14-11.
Quin Snyder praised the team’s defensive execution, particularly in critical moments. “We got some big stops and were able to secure some defensive rebounds, even guys getting on the floor for a loose ball… that was crucial,” he said.
Snyder highlighted the performance of Dyson Daniels, who scored a season-high 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. “He’s getting in there with the speed and also under control… he’s been quietly improving on all those reads when he gets in,” Snyder said, noting Daniels’ assertiveness attacking gaps in the defense.
The Hawks’ big man Onyeka Okongwu also drew praise for his interior presence. “If you’re playing against Embiid or Drummond, being able to stretch the floor and take those shots is a big part of it,” Snyder said, referencing Okongwu’s growing confidence on perimeter attempts.
Snyder underscored the contributions across the roster, pointing to Jalen Johnson’s triple-double. “We need him on both ends of the floor… he got a big block, some big rebounds,” Snyder said, emphasizing team defense and effort.
Vít Krejci also made a significant impact off the bench with 19 points, including four three-pointers. “Vit making a play, not fouling, getting a good contest… that’s a lot of things that happened tonight that don’t show up in the box score,” Snyder said.
Snyder credited the Hawks’ physicality and ability to handle contact as a decisive factor. “We were stronger at the point of the ball… our screens were precise, which allowed us to play with force,” he said.
The coach also noted Nickeil Alexander-Walker’s resilience after an early ankle concern. “He went to the bench, got checked, and then came back in… playing through it, locked in defensively for the entire game,” Snyder said.
Atlanta capitalized late, with Daniels scoring just over a minute remaining to extend the lead, despite Philadelphia’s attempts to close the gap. Snyder emphasized that consistent execution and assertive play remain key to the Hawks’ approach. “This game epitomized the way we need to play… everybody did their part,” he said.
The Hawks will continue their homestand before traveling to Charlotte on Thursday, while the 76ers head to New York on Friday, aiming to stabilize without Maxey.
