Dyson Daniels delivered one of his most complete games of the season as the Atlanta Hawks edged the Philadelphia 76ers 120-117 on Sunday night at State Farm Arena.
The win pushed Atlanta to 15-12, while Philadelphia slipped to 14-11 after dropping a second straight game without Tyrese Maxey.
Daniels finished with 27 points and 10 rebounds, shooting 13-of-19 from the field and repeatedly attacking gaps in the defense. The guard also played a key role late, scoring with just over a minute remaining to give the Hawks a four-point cushion.
Onyeka Okongwu anchored the interior with 20 points and 15 rebounds, controlling the glass against Joel Embiid and helping Atlanta limit second-chance opportunities. The Hawks outrebounded the visitors 57-54 and recorded 33 assists on 43 made field goals.
Vít Krejci provided a major lift off the bench with 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting, including four three-pointers. Zaccharie Risacher added 15 points, while Jalen Johnson chipped in 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists for a triple-double effort.
Philadelphia stayed within striking distance behind Paul George, who scored 35 points and hit seven three-pointers. VJ Edgecombe added 26 points and kept the 76ers afloat during a third-quarter surge.
Joel Embiid posted 22 points and 14 rebounds, though he shot 8-of-20 from the field and committed three turnovers. The Sixers led only once all night, briefly going ahead 47-46 in the second quarter.
Edgecombe scored 17 points in the third as George and Embiid rested, helping Philadelphia outscore Atlanta 36-35 in the period. The Hawks answered by shooting 52 percent from three-point range for the game.
Late execution proved decisive. Daniels’ basket made it 118-114 before Quentin Grimes responded with a three-pointer to cut the margin to one.
After Embiid secured a defensive rebound with 41 seconds left, Philadelphia had multiple chances to take the lead. Several perimeter attempts fell short, and Grimes’ final three-point try at the buzzer spun out.
Atlanta shot 43 percent overall and went 17-of-21 from the free-throw line, while Philadelphia finished at 38 percent from the field despite attempting 101 shots. The Sixers did hit 17 threes but struggled to convert inside.
The Hawks will continue their homestand before traveling to Charlotte on Thursday night. The 76ers head to New York on Friday as they look to stabilize without Maxey.
