The Los Angeles Lakers recovered from blowing a 20-point lead in the fourth quarter to beat the Phoenix Suns 116-114 on Sunday.
Lakers superstar LeBron James made two free throws with 3.9 seconds left, while Luka Doncic dropped 29 points. Deandre Ayton had 20 points and 13 rebounds against his former team, where he played his first five seasons after being a first pick overall in 2018.
The Suns trailed 20-point 99-79, with 7:48 left, but took a 114-113 lead with 12.2 seconds left when Dillon Brooks hit a three-pointer over James.
After the shot, Brooks bumped James on the way back down the court, resulting in his second technical foul and an ejection.
However, James has not converted the free throw.
The 40-year-old forward was fouled again on a three-point attempt by Devin Booker with 3.9 seconds left, missed the first throw but made the final two to give them the 115-114 lead.
The Phoenix tried for a game-winner, where Grayson Allen got up an awkward shot at the buzzer, but it was off the mark.
The Lakers had a season-high 24 offensive rebounds, which helped offset a tough shooting night, as Doncic was 7 of 25 from the field, including 2 of 14 from beyond the arc.
Booker contributed 27 points, after missing three games with a groin injury, and also made 13 of 16 free throws.
The Los Angeles aim to maintain their momentum at Utah on Thursday, while the Phoenix looks forward to bouncing back against the Warriors.
