After being traded from a recent title contender to a rebuilding Brooklyn team, Michael Porter Jr. has quickly grown comfortable with his new surroundings.
The former Nuggets forward said he’s enjoying his time with the Nets and would prefer to stay in Brooklyn rather than be moved again.
Porter praised the organization and the atmosphere around the team, saying, “Yeah, I love it here. I love the staff, I love the energy of practice. Everyone gets along and has great vibes and great energy around the facility.”
He added that his priority is playing for a team that values what he brings, and he feels that appreciation in Brooklyn.
While acknowledging that long-term roster decisions aren’t his call, Porter shared his belief that winning teams need balance.
“Any good, successful team, you need a mix of young, developing guys with unlimited energy, and you need some older guys that have been there and done that,” he said, noting that relying solely on youth rarely leads to sustained success.
Porter has one guaranteed year left on his contract after this season, worth $40.8 million. He’s backing up his stance with career-best production, averaging 25.8 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game.
