At 22 years old, Will Richard entered the draft process considered older than most prospects, a label that sometimes works against players on draft night.

However, as Kenzo Fukuda of ClutchPoints notes, Richard believes his age and experience have actually been advantages.

After one college season at Belmont and three at Florida, he has quickly carved out an unexpected role with the Golden State Warriors despite being selected near the end of the draft at No. 56.

“I feel like those four years at Florida helped me out with my experience,” he said.

“I feel like it helped me adjust much quicker than if I were an 18-year-old freshman or something like that. So no knock to the guys that get drafted who are younger than me. … I know my journey is different from everyone else, so I’m happy how it went.”
