LeBron James saw one of the most remarkable statistical runs in league history come to a close on Thursday, as his streak of 1,297 straight regular-season games scoring at least 10 points ended during the Los Angeles Lakers’ 123–120 victory over the Toronto Raptors.
James finished with eight points, and in the game’s final seconds he passed up a shot that could have extended the streak, instead choosing to find Rui Hachimura in the corner. Hachimura buried the three-pointer at the buzzer to seal the win.
After the game, Hachimura shared what James told him before the decisive play.
“Bron told me right before this, ‘I got you. It’s going to come to you,'” he said in his on-court interview.
James’ streak sits far above any other in NBA history. The next closest belongs to Michael Jordan, who reached double figures in 866 consecutive regular-season games.
Before Thursday, the last time James failed to hit the 10-point mark was all the way back on January 5, 2007, underscoring how extraordinary the run truly was.
