The Philadelphia 76ers had multiple players returning from injuries on Sunday, including rookie guard VJ Edgecombe, who missed three games because of a calf issue.

As Tim Bontemps notes, Edgecombe contributed seven points in 21 minutes but did not appear beyond regulation as Philadelphia monitored his workload closely.

Paul George, still easing his way back after appearing in only his fifth game of the season, was also held out of the second overtime. His minutes restriction matched the cautious approach the team took with several players throughout the night.

Head coach Nick Nurse explained that the coaching staff was simply limited in what they could ask from their recovering players.

“That was just kind of about as much as they had, to be honest,” Nurse told reporters, referring to the controlled usage of Edgecombe, George, and Embiid.
