Kawhi Leonard took another step toward returning to the court by participating in parts of the Clippers’ practice on Wednesday, though he still avoided any contact work, head coach Tyronn Lue told Law Murray of The Athletic and other reporters.

Lue said Leonard was able to get some activity in but isn’t yet sure when the star forward will be fully ready.

“He did a few things,” Lue said. ” … He’s definitely gotten better. I mean, I don’t know how long it’s gonna be (until he returns). But he’s definitely gotten better. Just seeing him on the floor yesterday was really good to see.”

Leonard had been playing well to open the season before spraining his right ankle and foot on November 3. The Clippers were 3–3 in the games he played but have struggled significantly without him, going just 1–7 during his absence.

The 34-year-old missed his ninth consecutive game on Thursday in Orlando.
