Both Marc Stein and Christian Clark report that Dallas Mavericks governor Patrick Dumont is in no rush to launch a full-scale search for a new head of basketball operations following the dismissal of Nico Harrison.

One source with insight into ownership’s mindset told The Athletic, “The timeline won’t determine the hire. The qualifications will determine the hire,” emphasizing that Dallas intends to prioritize finding the right person rather than moving quickly.

Clark adds that the Mavericks are looking for “calmness and stability” in whoever ultimately takes over the front office.

For now, Matt Riccardi and Michael Finley are sharing responsibilities as co-interim general managers while the organization continues evaluating its long-term leadership direction.
