Atlanta Hawks head coach Quin Snyder praised his team’s persistence after Monday’s 105-102 road victory against the Los Angeles Clippers.
“The flow of the game was challenging early, but we kept defending and eventually started making shots,” Snyder said.
Snyder emphasized the importance of collective effort in tight situations. “Being in a close game against a veteran team is tough. We made our fair share of plays collectively and overcame mistakes,” he added.
Vit Krejci’s performance drew special attention as he scored a career-high 28 points, including eight 3-pointers. “He’s mentally tough and competed hard. Tonight, the shots went in, but his defense and overall competitiveness were just as important,” Snyder noted.
Kristaps Porzingis also played a key role in Atlanta’s win, contributing 20 points. Snyder highlighted his ability to influence the game beyond scoring. “There are times in the game he settles us. Whether scoring, drawing fouls, or creating plays, his teammates have a lot of confidence in him,” he said.
Snyder addressed the potential impact of Porzingis and Trae Young playing together once Young returns. “They play well together. Trae makes everyone’s job easier, and KP can score or create opportunities. It’s about learning to play off each other,” he explained.
Atlanta overcame a 17-point deficit, fueled by Krejci’s four 3-pointers during a 20-3 second-quarter run. The Hawks tied the game 52-52 by halftime and gradually built momentum, with Krejci hitting a crucial late 3-pointer to secure the lead.
Despite a triple-double from James Harden, who scored 35 points for the Clippers, the Hawks held on for the narrow victory. Snyder credited the team’s mental toughness and adaptability. “This experience is something we haven’t had on this level this year, and we can draw from it,” he said.
The win improved Atlanta’s record to 6-5, marking the second time this season they have won consecutive games after trailing by double digits. Snyder praised the team’s ability to stay organized and capitalize on opportunities. “We’ll continue emphasizing pace and creating chances for each other. That’s how we’ll keep growing,” he said.
The Hawks continue their road trip on Wednesday against the Sacramento Kings, while the Clippers aim to end a five-game losing streak at home against the Denver Nuggets.
