The London Lions have brought back former BBL MVP, Zaire Taylor.

The American joins Nigel Lloyd’s side after playing a leading part in winning the French NM1 Championship with Bloise Basket this past season.

Taylor led the Lions to the BBL Playoff Championship Final in 2015 and is a BBL Trophy and Playoff winner with Worcester Wolves.

Guard Taylor was the MVP of that Final as well as being voted the League’s MVP in 2014 for a season that saw him average 19 points per game and a league leading 7.1 assists and grab 4.5 rebounds. In the year previous, he starred in Leicester Riders’ treble-winning 2012/13 BBL campaign in which they won the BBL Championship, BBL Cup and the season-finale BBL Championship Playoffs.

“Zaire is a very good basketball player”, commented Coach Lloyd, “He will elevate the quality of talent we put on the floor and is a floor general who can keep the team focussed on the job at hand.”

The 6’4” Taylor averaged 44 percent from the floor last time in London whilst scoring 16 points a game and nearly 5 assists, with a season high 41 points on the way to the Playoff Final. A graduate of Missouri University in 2010, he had a stint in Holland before finding his home in England.

Lloyd continued, “I believe that we can continue to improve by adding players like Zaire to our squad, he was a huge favourite here and loves to play in the BBL.” Taylor himself feels he has unfinished business after that Playoff Final loss at the O2, “I have had offers from a number of countries but I like playing in the BBL and being in London, I have unfinished business here.”
