Draymond Green values defense more than offense in winning titles.

When Kevin Durant joined the Golden State Warriors, the former Defensive Player of the Year believed that their defense was incredible, which contributed to their championship wins.

Green said that underestimating defense means holding a senseless opinion, since it is the primary key to winning in the long term.

“Those who don’t believe defense is as valuable as it is, they simply just don’t win. I don’t think anyone’s ever really been hell-bent on caring about the opinion of those that don’t win, because your opinion equals zero.”

He won here, (and) the defense here was… [incredible]”

After it was posted by the NBA Central on X, Durant reacted with a trolled response, asking what about the offense, where fans replied with their own takes.

The discussion of Durant’s perspective on offense wins championships began when The Starting 5, Season 2, was released on Netflix.

These two former teammates had won two championships together in the 2017 and 2018 NBA Finals, where they both made significant contributions to both offensive and defensive plays.

In 2017, Green won the Defensive Player of the Year award while Durant won the finals MVP.

Both stars were ambassadors of offense and defense, considered among the best seen in the league.
