Houston Rockets superstar Kevin Durant has reacted to Victor Wembanyama’s recent statements about sports betting endorsements, declining to directly address the San Antonio Spurs center’s criticism of players who promote gambling companies.

Wembanyama recently attracted attention after expressing disappointment with NBA players involved in betting advertisements and ruling out similar partnerships for himself.

Asked about those remarks following Friday’s Rockets training camp session, Durant made it clear that he did not share the same interest in discussing the subject.

“That’s Wemby, he’s going to do what he does,” Durant told reporters after the Houston Rockets’ Friday training camp. “That has nothing to do with me.

“I don’t really think about that question at all, that’s not on my mind as much as his. People gonna do what they want to do.”

Durant’s response comes amid his own commercial involvement in the gambling industry. The veteran forward has served as a paid spokesperson and brand ambassador for FanDuel since 2022.

When asked specifically about the moral implications of promoting sports betting, Durant again declined to offer an extended explanation.

“Like I said, people gonna do what they want to do out here,” Durant said regarding his “moral aspect” of promoting sports betting, “But no, I didn’t think about it.”
