The Cleveland Cavaliers have exercised their third-year team option on guard Jaylon Tyson, securing him through the 2026–27 NBA season.

The move guarantees Tyson’s contract for at least the next two years. He will earn $3.49 million in 2025–26 and $3.66 million in 2026–27, with the Cavaliers set to make another decision next fall on his $5.64 million fourth-year option for the 2027–28 season.

Tyson had a limited role as a rookie after being selected 20th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft.

He appeared in 47 games, averaging 9.6 minutes, 3.6 points, and 2.0 rebounds per game while shooting 43 percent from the field, 34.5 percent from three-point range, and 79.2 percent from the free-throw line.

At 6-foot-6, Tyson showed flashes of potential as a floor spacer and energy player off the bench. His contract decision reflects Cleveland’s continued investment in his development as part of the team’s young core.

According to team salary records, Tyson was the only Cavalier with a rookie-scale team option for the 2026–27 season, meaning the franchise has no additional option decisions to make before the October 31 deadline.
