Victor Wembanyama is showing greatness in the season opener.

The San Antonio Spurs superstar has been dominating their awaited debut against the Dallas Mavericks’ highly prized rookie Cooper Flagg, leading them to victory with a score of 125-92.

The French star dropped a double-double, being the first player to get 40 points and 15 rebounds, in Spurs franchise history in the first game of the season.

With him being the leader of the team, one of the Spurs’ contributors, Stephon Castle commended his stellar debut performance in his third year, saying that he is the best player in the league right now.

“I think he is the best player in the league. I expect that from him, no matter who is matched up against him,” Castle said.

Although there were setbacks during the previous season, when he was diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis in his shoulder that required surgery in February, he said he worked out extensively in the offseason to return to the game.

“God knows I worked f**king hard this summer,” Wembanyama said.

Aside from hitting a milestone in franchise history, he also joined the list of now six NBA players to open up the season with those stats, along with Anthony Davis, Karl Malone, Walt Bellamy, Elgin Baylor, and Wilt Chamberlain.

“All dreams are allowed now. I am just glad to be back,” he added.

Once Wembanyama consistently finds his groove with performances like this and remains healthy for the next 81 games, there is no doubt that he will win the MVP and also lead his team.
