The Phoenix Suns have waived guard Jared Butler, according to NBA insider Michael Scotto. The move comes after Butler’s strong preseason performance, including a 35-point, nine-assist, seven-rebound effort against the Lakers on October 15.

Butler signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract with Phoenix on July 24, marking his return to the NBA after playing for multiple teams over the past several seasons.

During the 2025–26 preseason, Butler averaged 15.5 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.5 rebounds across four games while showing his ability to score efficiently and create for teammates.

Despite his production, roster considerations and depth at the guard position led the Suns to waive Butler.

Butler, 25, has NBA experience with Utah, Oklahoma City, Washington, and Philadelphia. Over 148 career games, he has averaged 6.7 points, 2.8 assists, and 1.5 rebounds per contest, demonstrating scoring versatility and playmaking potential.
