The Toronto Raptors defeated the Brooklyn Nets 119-114 at Scotiabank Arena on Friday night. Toronto improved to 4-2 in preseason while Brooklyn fell to 2-2.
Toronto jumped to a 37-27 lead after the first quarter. Scottie Barnes scored eight points with two steals to set the tone.
Brooklyn cut into the deficit in the second with Michael Porter Jr.’s pullup jumpers. Toronto held a 72-56 advantage at halftime after RJ Barrett’s dunk.
The third quarter saw Nets outscore Raptors 30-25. Porter Jr. added 15 points in the frame with three triples.
Toronto led 102-81 entering the fourth. Brooklyn rallied for 28 points in the final period but fell short.
Barnes finished with 31 points on 10-of-15 shooting for Toronto. He grabbed six rebounds and dished four assists.
Barrett added 25 points with three steals. Immanuel Quickley scored 18 points and 10 assists.
Porter Jr. led Brooklyn with 34 points on 12-of-20 shooting. He hit six threes and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Ziaire Williams contributed 20 points off the bench. Nic Claxton had 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Toronto outscored Brooklyn 66-40 in the paint. Raptors shot 48.4 percent from the field.
Brooklyn committed 23 turnovers leading to 34 points for Toronto. Nets made 15 threes at 37.5 percent.
