The Philadelphia 76ers secured a 126-110 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves in Friday’s preseason matchup at Xfinity Mobile Arena. Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, and Quentin Grimes spearheaded the effort as the 76ers improved to 1-3, while the Timberwolves dropped to 2-4.
Maxey finished with a team-high 27 points, adding seven assists and two steals. Edgecombe contributed 26 points with five assists, three steals, and a dunk, while Grimes added 22 points, connecting on four of six three-pointers and converting all four free throws.
Joel Embiid, who logged limited minutes in the second half, scored 14 points and collected seven rebounds, distributing eight assists before exiting.
For Minnesota, Leonard Miller led the Timberwolves with 21 points on seven-of-ten shooting from the field, including two of four from three-point range. Jaylen Clark added 14 points and four rebounds, while Johnny Juzang chipped in eight points with six rebounds. Rob Dillingham also reached double digits, scoring 11 points on five-of-eleven shooting.
Philadelphia’s bench played a pivotal role, with Jabari Walker posting eight points and four rebounds, while Andre Drummond chipped in seven points and four boards. The 76ers outrebounded Minnesota 47-31 and forced 17 turnovers compared to just nine committed.
The game remained competitive early, with the Timberwolves trailing by six points at halftime, 60-54. The 76ers pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring Minnesota 35-31, highlighted by Maxey’s 3-point shooting and Edgecombe’s slashing drives. Philadelphia maintained control in the final period, extending the lead to secure a comfortable win.
Philadelphia shot 47.4% from the field, including 35.1% from three, and made 91.3% of free throws. Minnesota converted 46.3% of field goals and 28.6% from distance, while making 81.3% of their free throws.
