Jason Kidd has officially agreed to a multi-year contract extension with the Dallas Mavericks.

Over the last two offseasons, Kidd drew attention from other major franchises, with both the Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks expressing interest in bringing him in.

Despite that outside pursuit, it was widely believed that the Mavericks would eventually lock him into a new deal, especially after the team dismissed the Knicks’ attempt to consider him for their coaching position.

Kidd took over as head coach of Dallas in 2021 and quickly made an impact. He guided the Mavericks to the Western Conference Finals in 2022 and then followed that up by leading the team all the way to the NBA Finals in 2024.

Before taking the helm in Dallas, Kidd served as head coach for the Brooklyn Nets and the Milwaukee Bucks.

He later spent time as an assistant coach with the Lakers, gaining further experience before returning to a lead role with the Mavericks.
