The Brooklyn Nets have decided to bring in two new faces by signing free agents Terry Roberts and Tre Scott, the team announced (via Keith Smith of Spotrac).

The organization did not reveal the financial specifics of either deal, but it’s believed that both players have agreed to standard Exhibit 10 contracts.

This kind of agreement would make each of them eligible to receive a potential bonus “worth up to $85,300 if he’s waived in the coming days and spends at least 60 days in the G League with the Long Island Nets.”

Roberts, who stands at 6-foot-3, entered the league undrafted out of Georgia in 2023. He earned a spot with Long Island for his first professional campaign during the 2023/24 season.

His journey took a frightening turn in February of 2024 when his life was abruptly interrupted after he was “shot in the upper chest by a stray bullet.”

The severity of his injury led to him being “temporarily placed on a ventilator as a result of the incident,” but despite the odds, he made a full recovery and found his way back onto the court for Long Island before the season ended.

During the 2024/25 run, across 31 appearances, he posted averages of 6.7 points, 5.2 assists, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.4 steals while logging 25.7 minutes per game, showing resilience along with steady contributions on both ends.

As for Tre Scott, he brings a different type of professional experience. Listed at 6-foot-8, he has been playing at the pro level since 2020.

His career path has taken him through multiple international leagues, including stints in Puerto Rico, France, and Canada, though most of his recent competitive play has come through the G League.

He even had a brief appearance in the NBA itself with “a two-game stint with the Cavaliers in ’21/22.”

After playing a smaller role with the Osceola Magic during last fall’s Tip-Off Tournament, Scott transitioned to Brooklyn’s G League affiliate for the 2024/25 regular season.

Over 34 games where he averaged 32.0 minutes, the 28-year-old posted solid numbers of 11.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.4 steals per game, demonstrating an all-around game and consistent effort.

This pair of signings also brings Brooklyn back to the maximum number of contract slots allowed during the offseason.

As noted, “Brooklyn is now back at the offseason limit of 21 players under contract.”

This comes after the franchise “opened up a pair of roster spots earlier on Monday when they waived Dariq Whitehead and Drew Timme.”
