The Los Angeles Lakers were once again short-handed in preseason action, falling 111-103 to the Golden State Warriors in their second exhibition game.
While the result was another defeat, it marked progress compared to their opening preseason matchup – a lopsided 22-point loss to the Phoenix Suns.
This time, the Lakers were without their “big three” of Luka Doncic, LeBron James, and Austin Reaves, all of whom sat out for rest.
In their absence, guard Gabe Vincent stepped into a leading role, finishing with 16 points and five assists to pace the Lakers’ offense.
Afterward, Vincent emphasized the team’s improved approach and mindset compared to the opener.
“We came with more intention,” Vincent said, via Thuc Nhi Nguyen of the Los Angeles Times.
“We were more focused. Obviously it’s different with those three not playing. They’re a huge part of our team and everything that we do. But next man up.”
