The Orlando Magic have made another pair of roster adjustments ahead of camp. The team announced that it has signed free agent guard Jalen Crutcher, while waiving Johnell Davis to open the spot.

Crutcher is joining on an Exhibit 10 contract, as reported by Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel. With the offsetting transactions, “the team still has a full 21-man preseason roster.”

Crutcher first made a name for himself in college, where he was a three-time All-Atlantic 10 honoree during his Dayton tenure. After going undrafted in 2021, he launched his professional career with the Greensboro Swarm, Charlotte’s G League affiliate, in 2021/22.

His rights were later moved to the Birmingham Squadron, the G League team for New Orleans, before the 2023/24 season.

In February 2024, Crutcher earned a short look at the NBA level when “Crutcher signed a 10-day deal with the Pelicans,” though New Orleans declined to extend him once that contract lapsed.

He returned to the Squadron for the rest of the year, even picking up a two-way deal with the Pelicans in 2024/25 before being released in March. Up to now, his only NBA game action came in that stint, logging “just under three minutes with New Orleans in 2024.”

As with other Exhibit 10 signings, the contract could pave a path back through the G League if he is waived.

Should that happen, “Crutcher [will] be cut and spend at least 60 days with the Osceola Magic, Orlando’s G League affiliate,” making him eligible for a bonus worth up to $85,300. The same situation appears likely for Davis following his release.
