Former NBA guard Nate Robinson says his outlook on life has dramatically shifted since receiving a kidney transplant in February 2025. Speaking to Sam Yip of HoopsHype, Robinson revealed how the experience changed his daily perspective.
“It’s changed a lot – I have a different view on life,” Robinson said. “Small things don’t bother me no more. People saying certain things… it really doesn’t matter. I’m here, I’m healthy, I’m enjoying life as a whole.”
Robinson emphasized the importance of appreciating second chances. “Not too many people get second chances, so I’m going to appreciate this and treat this kidney right,” he said. “I’m going to eat right, do things way differently.”
He described the renewed energy he feels each day. “The energy that I’m waking up with every day is a lot different than it’s been over the years. I’m just happy to wake up every day and do whatever it is I want to do,” Robinson added.
Robinson first revealed his battle with renal disease in 2022. By April 2024, his condition had progressed to a critical stage, leaving him in urgent need of a kidney transplant.
The transplant has allowed Robinson to embrace a healthier lifestyle and focus on gratitude. His message highlights the significance of health and the small joys in life that many often overlook.
