Oklahoma City Thunder guard Nikola Topić will be sidelined for at least four to six weeks after undergoing a testicular procedure, NBA insider Michael Scotto reported. The 20-year-old will be re-evaluated following his recovery period.

Topic was a highly anticipated rookie for the defending champions after being selected 12th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft. He missed the entire 2024-25 season recovering from a torn ACL sustained in May 2024.

At preseason media day, Topic expressed excitement about joining the Thunder after his injury hiatus. “Just to be able to play with these guys, who are great, and just to be a part of the team now, it feels amazing,” he said.

The 6-foot-6 guard has been diligently rehabbing and working on his skills during the offseason. “It was weird at first. It was like, ‘What do I do now? Do I sleep? Do I eat? When do I do stuff?’ But later on, it was all better, and I think it will only get better,” Topic added.

During the 2025 Summer League, Topic averaged 11.0 points, 7.3 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game across three contests. He shot 36.1% from the field and 33.3% from beyond the arc while logging 27.3 minutes per game.

Topic expressed some regret at missing last season’s championship run with the Thunder but appreciated the experience. “It would probably be even better just if I played, but it was an amazing experience,” he said.

He will join a roster that includes reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, veteran leadership, and a mix of young talent. Topic’s integration into the team was expected to boost the Thunder’s depth at the point guard position once he is fully cleared.
