Denver Nuggets guard Bruce Brown offered high praise for three-time MVP Nikola Jokic during a recent interview with Mark Medina of Sportskeeda, describing the Serbian star as the ultimate teammate and perfectionist on the court.
“He just does everything perfect,” Brown said. “He makes the right read every single time. He makes the right play every single time. People love to play with Nikola. There’s a reason. He shares the ball. He doesn’t want to shoot the ball all the time. He wants to get his players involved.”
Brown, who rejoined Denver this offseason after a brief stint away, reflected on the strong chemistry that defined the Nuggets’ 2023 championship run. He said that returning to the team and putting the jersey back on felt like “coming home,” noting the camaraderie and unselfishness that remain central to the locker room culture.
The Nuggets have opened preseason with a sharp focus on defense and physicality, a point of emphasis echoed by new head coach David Adelman. Brown said the team is working on “playing off each other and picking up full court” to prepare for the postseason intensity that awaits.
Denver’s balance was on display Monday night in a 112-108 preseason win over the Toronto Raptors at Rogers Arena in Vancouver. Christian Braun led the Nuggets with 19 points on perfect 8-for-8 shooting, while Jamal Murray scored 17 in the first half. Jokic added 17 points on 5-for-5 shooting, along with six rebounds and five assists.
Brown contributed seven points, four rebounds, and two steals off the bench as Denver shot 56.7% from the field. Despite committing 31 turnovers, the Nuggets used their size advantage to control the paint and outrebound Toronto 48-38.
Jokic, who is coming off another stellar season averaging 29.6 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 10.2 assists, continues to draw admiration from teammates and opponents alike. Brown said the center’s intelligence separates him from others in the league.
“He’s super smart,” Brown added. “He sees things happen before they happen. He’s the most intelligent guy on the floor.”
