Sam Hauser remained with the Boston Celtics this summer, but his name surfaced often in trade rumors during the offseason, making him one of the players most frequently linked to potential deals.
While no move ultimately materialized, Hauser admitted on Monday that the constant speculation wasn’t something he could fully tune out.
“You try to block it out but you really can’t, to be honest with you,” he said, as reported by Souichi Terada of MassLive.com. “But I know it’s part of the business. I was prepared for whatever. If I was gonna get shipped, great. I stayed, thankfully. I’m glad to be here.
“But even if I were shipped, I had no hard feelings here. They gave me an opportunity when no one else did. They extended me. They had to do what they had to do and I understood it, but I’m glad I’m here, to say the least.”
Originally undrafted, Hauser has carved out a role as one of the Celtics’ most reliable shooters off the bench, and his ability to space the floor has made him a valuable piece in the team’s rotation.
Hauser has played 4 seasons for the Celtics. He has averaged 7.4 points and 2.9 rebounds in 256 regular-season games. He has won 1 NBA championship.
