The Golden State Warriors have added another piece to their roster puzzle, agreeing to a two-way contract with Alex Toohey.
The 6’8” forward was selected 52nd overall in the 2025 NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns, but his rights were immediately moved to Golden State in a draft-night trade that sent the rights to Koby Brea the other way.
Toohey arrives with professional experience already under his belt. A native of Australia, he has spent the past two seasons with the Sydney Kings of the NBL, where he quickly became one of the league’s most promising young forwards.
Last year, he averaged 11.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game, showcasing a versatile game built around athleticism, defense, and transition play.
By signing a two-way deal, Toohey will split time between the Warriors and their G League affiliate in Santa Cruz, giving him the chance to develop while also being available to Golden State for up to 50 NBA games.
He now occupies one of the Warriors’ three two-way roster slots, alongside Jackson Rowe, who is set to return, while fellow Australian Taran Armstrong remains a restricted free agent with a two-way qualifying offer on the table.
Toohey’s signing was part of a busy Sunday for Golden State’s front office.
In addition to landing the Australian forward, the Warriors received commitments from veterans Al Horford, De’Anthony Melton, and Gary Payton II, and also finalized a four-year agreement with second-round pick Will Richard.
