Australian forward Alex Toohey has officially declared for the 2025 NBA Draft as an Early Entry Candidate, taking the next step in his basketball career.
Toohey spent last season playing for the Sydney Kings in the Australian National Basketball League (NBL), where he showcased his skills against high-level competition.
In 32 games with the Kings, the 6-foot-7 forward posted impressive numbers, averaging 11.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game.
He proved to be an efficient scorer, shooting 46.5% from the field and 34% from three-point range, demonstrating his ability to stretch the floor as a versatile wing.
Currently, Toohey is ranked 37th on ESPN’s Top 100 draft prospects list, positioning him as a likely early second-round selection.
However, some scouts and analysts believe he has the potential to sneak into the late first round, depending on how he performs in pre-draft workouts and how the overall draft pool shapes up.
Because he will only turn 21 years old before the draft, Toohey is required to declare as an Early Entry Candidate.
According to NBA rules, international players do not become automatically eligible until they turn 22 in the year of the draft, making this declaration a necessary step for his NBA aspirations.
