Ex-NBA player Isaiah Canaan has suffered an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his knee during the first half of the VTB Supercup clash against Dubai on Thursday.

It was a huge setback for the Crvena Zvezda as they aim to get a momentum before the start of the 2025-2026 season in the upcoming weeks.

“Medical examinations conducted on Friday have determined that first-team player Isaiah Canaan has injured the anterior cruciate ligament of his knee,” the club announced, per Eurohoops.

Canaan struggled, grabbing his knee while on the floor before the medical staff came. He did not return to the game as Zvezda still outlasted Dubai with 82-80.

There will be reports for further diagnostics as they assess the severity of the injury and its recovery period.

Last season, the 6-foot guard played 35 games with Zvezda in the EuroLeague and tallied 10 points per game on 38.3% from the three-point range.

Crvena Zvezda will host Olimpia Milano to start the EuroLeague season on September 30.
