After competing with Poland in the EuroBasket 2025, the ex-NBA player Jordan Loyd expressed his excitement about playing with Anadolu Efes in the Euroleague.
The 6-foot-4 combo guard will be teaming up with Shane Larkin, who has a background in competing in the NBA and the recent EuroBasket.
He gave the credit to Larkin as the one in charge of the team and was ready to learn from their experiences.
“I’ve known Shane for several years now,” Loyd said via Eurohopps. “He is a top-class player. He’s amazing, and he’s an amazing person, so I just look forward to learning anything I can from him. He’s been here a long time. This is his team, his show, and I’m just happy to be a part of it.”
Loyd’s seventh season in the Euroleague
Loyd discussed joining the Anadolu while also appreciating the competition in the league as he gets reunited with other players in the EuroBasket, per Eurohoops.
“It was something, I guess I didn’t foresee. Obviously, it was a lot of works in progress and stuff, but it means a lot for me. I feel refreshed. I feel excited, I feel looking forward to the opportunity to play for such a prestigious and amazing club like Efes.”
With his upcoming seventh season in the Euroleague, he was excited to compete, as he also gained experience in the NBA championship in 2019, delaying his European stint back then.
“I wanted to play Euroleague, but at the same time… long story short, I couldn’t get out of the contract,” he explained, “It was very difficult and, me and my family had to pay money out of our own pocket, basically, to Darussafaka. I don’t feel like they handled the situation that great, but I take the fall first. I signed the contract. So, either way, I was able to go on and have like one of the best years of my life and win the NBA championship, despite all that,” Loyd said.
Despite falling short in the EuroBasket 2025 quarterfinals, Loyd scored fifth overall among all players in the recent tournament. He averaged 22.4 points, 3.3 boards, and two assists.
Anadolu Efes’ revamped roster is also filled with additional former NBA players such as Cole Swider and Kai Jones.
