Rookies Egor Demin and Drake Powell will both be eased into training camp due to lingering injuries, writes C.J. Holmes of the New York Daily News.
Demin, who was drafted eighth overall, is still recovering from a plantar fascia tear he suffered shortly after Summer League.
Powell, the 22nd pick, has been sidelined since July with left knee tendinopathy and has not yet been cleared for full 5-on-5 practice.
Demin admitted he doesn’t fully understand the medical side of his injury, instead focusing on following the recovery plan laid out for him.
“I’m not a doctor, so it’s hard for me to even tell what’s going on with it,” the Russian prospect explained.
“So, for me, it’s just important to stay present and I’m trying to focus on whatever plan I have from the physicians, right, and whatever timing I have from them.”
