Brooklyn Nets forward Haywood Highsmith, who joined his new team in mid-August after being traded from the Heat, suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee during an offseason workout and underwent surgery to repair the injury.
Despite the setback, the forward is optimistic about his recovery timeline and hopes to be ready when the regular season begins, according to Lewis.
“Right now, I’m six-and-a-half weeks out of surgery, so I’m doing jogging, spot-shooting, movements and workouts,” Highsmith explained. “Not 100 percent. Light contact. And the plan for me is to be ready for the start of the regular season.”
Highsmith has played 5 seasons for the Heat and 76ers. He has averaged 5.4 points and 3.1 rebounds in 218 regular-season games.
