After earlier reports suggested Ricky Council IV would join the Nets on a partially-guaranteed contract, Nets Daily now clarifies (via Twitter) that Council will not be signing with Brooklyn.

Council had been expected to arrive in Brooklyn after being waived by the Sixers following two seasons in Philadelphia, during which he averaged 6.7 points and 2.5 rebounds in 14.7 minutes per game.

While Council has struggled to maintain consistency from three-point range at both the college and NBA levels, he showed promise as an athletic, fast-break threat during his rookie season with Philadelphia.

At this point, it remains unclear which team Council will join instead.

Meanwhile, Nets Daily reports that Chinese forward Fanbo Zeng will be coming to Brooklyn on an Exhibit 10 deal, rather than competing for a two-way contract as some had anticipated.

Zeng, a 6’11 forward, averaged 14.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks last season for the Beijing Ducks while shooting 40.5% from beyond the arc.
