AS Monaco opened their 2025-26 campaign in style, rolling past Boulazac 95-70 at the iconic Court Philippe-Chatrier of Stade Roland Garros to punch their ticket to the French Super Cup Final.
Just one day after officially taking over practices, new head coach Vassilis Spanoulis was already steering La Roca Team with confidence. Monaco briefly lost control of a 13-point lead, but a decisive 10-0 run in the third quarter restored command and sealed the victory.
Alpha Diallo led the way with 16 points on an efficient 7-of-10 shooting night, while Elie Okobo added 15 points and dished out eight assists.
Summer addition Nikola Mirotic chipped in 13 points in his debut tournament appearance, providing a glimpse of the versatility Monaco expects him to bring. On the other side, Boulazac’s Angelo Warner finished with a game-high 21 points in a losing effort.
The matchup came with absences for Monaco, as Yoan Makoundou sat out with a preseason injury, Donatas Motiejunas did not travel to Paris, and both Daniel Theis – who had just joined the squad on Friday – and Nick Calathes were ruled out.
The game also marked a transition point, with Jordan Loyd officially departing Monaco for Anadolu Efes.
Later that evening, Le Mans survived a late scare to edge Paris 90-87 in the second semifinal. Shannon Bogues led Le Mans with 20 points, and Trevor Hudgins followed with 19, while Paris’ Nadir Hifi lit up the scoreboard with 27 points despite the loss.
Paris, already shorthanded, will continue to be without Daulton Hommes as he recovers from knee surgery, while newcomers Lamar Stevens and Sebastian Herrera are sidelined for the coming weeks.
With the stage set, Monaco will battle Le Mans in Sunday’s Super Cup Final, while Boulazac and Paris will fight for third place.
