Alperen Sengun has made good on a playful but meaningful promise to his Turkish teammate Ercan Osmani.

After Turkey stunned Greece in the EuroBasket 2025 semifinals, Sengun revealed he had promised Osmani a Rolex watch if he managed to hold Giannis Antetokounmpo under 20 points.

Nearly a week later, the Houston Rockets big man followed through, sharing a photo on Instagram of himself handing over the luxury timepiece with the caption, “Promises kept.”

Antetokounmpo, who had been averaging nearly 30 points per game in the tournament, was limited to just 12 points on 6-of-13 shooting, his lowest scoring output of EuroBasket.

Much of the credit went to Osmani, who not only anchored Turkey’s defensive scheme with constant double and triple teams on the “Greek Freak,” but also delivered offensively with a career-best 28 points.

The performance propelled Turkey, nicknamed the “12 Giant Men,” into the EuroBasket final for the first time in 25 years, the last time being in 2001.

Though they ultimately fell to Dennis Schroder and Germany in the championship game, the silver medal marked a historic and significant achievement for Turkish basketball.

Meanwhile, Greece regrouped to defeat Finland in the third-place game, securing their first EuroBasket medal since claiming bronze in 2009.
