Kyrie Irving has given a new update on his recovery from ACL surgery, telling TMZ Sports that his rehabilitation is going “incredibly well.”
While walking in New York City this week, Irving was asked about his progress and offered reassurance.
The Dallas Mavericks guard tore his left ACL on March 3 against the Sacramento Kings, an injury that ended his season and immediately raised concerns about his availability for 2025–26.
This follows his August Instagram Live session, where he revealed that his recovery had reached the five-month mark. At the time, he explained that he was slowly increasing basketball activity, noting “incremental growth” in his workouts.
The nine-time All-Star had been producing at a high level before the injury, averaging 24.7 points, 4.6 assists, and 4.8 rebounds across 50 games last season. His strong play earned him a ninth career All-Star selection as an injury replacement.
Despite the setback, Irving reaffirmed his commitment to Dallas over the summer by signing a three-year contract. The Mavericks continue to view him as a key leader on a roster that has shifted significantly since Luka Doncic’s trade to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Irving’s career résumé already includes a championship with Cleveland in 2016, 96 playoff appearances, and averages of 23.7 points, 5.6 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game. His efficiency remains among the best for guards in league history, with 47.4 percent shooting from the field and 39.4 percent from beyond the arc.
