Kyrie Irving gave fans another glimpse into his recovery, saying he is making steady progress nearly five months after undergoing ACL surgery.
Speaking on Instagram Live, the Dallas Mavericks guard confirmed that August 26 marked exactly five months since his operation.
“I was in the gym doing a little bit more,” Irving said. “I won’t tell you what exactly I was doing because it’s all about incremental growth, but I can share with y’all it was some good days in the gym. I’m healing up great.”
Irving suffered the injury on March 3 during the first quarter against the Sacramento Kings. The setback ended his season and raised questions about his availability for the 2025–26 campaign.
The eight-time All-Star had returned to high-level play before the injury, averaging 24.7 points, 4.6 assists, and 4.8 rebounds in 50 games with Dallas. He was later named as an injury replacement for the 2025 All-Star Game, his ninth career selection.
In July, Irving recommitted to the Mavericks by signing a three-year contract. The franchise continues to see him as a central piece alongside its retooled roster following Luka Doncic’s departure to the Los Angeles Lakers.
For his career, Irving has averaged 23.7 points, 5.6 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game while shooting 47.4% from the field and 39.4% from three-point range. He has also appeared in 96 playoff games, highlighted by his role in the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 2016 championship run.
