The Golden State Warriors are focused on preserving salary cap flexibility for the summer of 2027, a period when both Giannis Antetokounmpo of Milwaukee and Nikola Jokic of Denver could potentially hit free agency, according to Sam Amick.

Currently, the only guaranteed financial commitments the Warriors have for that summer are Moses Moody’s $13.4 million and Buddy Hield’s $10 million player option, leaving the team ample room to pursue elite talent.

Golden State is fully aware of the possibilities, as both Giannis and Jokic hold player options for the 2027-28 season, creating an opportunity for several high-profile teams to position themselves for a potential roster shake-up.

The Warriors are not alone in this strategy – other top franchises, including the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers, have signaled similar intentions, demonstrating that multiple teams are preparing to chase star players once those contracts can be leveraged.

By keeping financial flexibility intact, Golden State aims to maximize its chances of competing for some of the league’s most coveted stars while maintaining control over its existing roster and long-term planning.
