The Los Angeles Lakers are shifting their trade priorities following Luka Doncic’s standout showing at EuroBasket 2025. Despite Slovenia’s quarterfinal loss to Germany, Doncic’s 39-point performance demonstrated his commitment and multi-year vision with the Lakers.

According to The Athletic’s Dan Woike, the Lakers previously avoided long-term contracts beyond the 2025–26 season. Doncic’s dedication has now prompted the team to explore more aggressive moves, particularly for wing players who can contribute on both ends.

Upgrading the wing has become a priority, with Miami’s Andrew Wiggins emerging as a potential target. While the Lakers had little interest in Wiggins earlier this summer, sources indicate the team may reconsider depending on trade cost and fit.

Doncic finished with 39 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists in the quarter-final against Germany, setting a EuroBasket quarterfinal scoring record.

The Lakers, now entering the 2025–26 season under head coach JJ Redick, are focused on blending Doncic with established stars like LeBron James, DeAndre Ayton, and Austin Reaves.
