Slovenia started FIBA EuroBasket 2025 with a rocky 0-2 record, but the team has responded with resilience and determination, winning four consecutive games to keep their tournament hopes alive in Riga.

After the pivotal win over Italy that booked their place in the Quarter-Finals, Slovenian center Alen Omic spoke about the team’s achievement and his excitement.

“It’s unbelievable for us. I’m so happy. I enjoyed this game, especially because of my guy Luka. He played amazingly today,” Omic said, highlighting the standout performance of Luka Doncic.

With Doncic carrying a minor injury concern, Omic also reassured fans about his teammate’s condition.

“I told him I will massage him if he wants to be ready for Germany. Everybody in the arena enjoyed what they saw,” he added, showing both his commitment to Doncic and the camaraderie within the squad.

Playing alongside Luka has been a special experience for the veteran big man.

“That’s something to remind yourself about for all your life. This is what he does, this is where I want to stay,” Omic reflected, describing the thrill of sharing the court with one of the game’s brightest stars.

He continued, “I want to stay with him in the court, just enjoying it. I do my best. I want him to enjoy his time, and that we do our job in order to make everything go well for him, so that he can give us a lot.”

Looking ahead, Slovenia will face Germany in the Quarter-Finals, a matchup full of potential surprises.

“That’s one game. You see what happened: Spain out, Serbia out. Everybody plays basketball,” Omic noted, acknowledging the unpredictable nature of knockout-stage competition.

“Everybody knows how to play basketball. It’s only one game; coming here with positive energy, everything can happen. That’s why we need to stay together like a family. We need to fight,” he concluded, underlining the team’s unity and determination as they prepare for the next challenge.
