Georgia avoided any missteps ahead of their decisive final matchup against Bosnia and Herzegovina, cruising past tournament hosts Cyprus with a commanding 93-61 win at FIBA EuroBasket 2025.

The victory, Georgia’s second of the competition, was driven by the dominance of Tornike Shengelia and Goga Bitadze, who set the tone on both ends of the floor.

The game wasn’t always one-sided. Cyprus held a brief lead early in the second quarter, giving their home crowd a moment to cheer. But Georgia quickly silenced the arena, seizing control with a decisive 14-4 spurt that put them ahead 29-20.

They followed it up with 10 unanswered points to create a 39-24 cushion, a margin that effectively broke Cyprus’s resistance.

“And that decided the game,” the post-game report noted, summing up how Georgia’s sudden burst of offense put the result beyond doubt.

Tornike Shengelia, the emotional leader of the team, delivered one of his best games in a Georgian uniform. Named TCL Player of the Game, he poured in 27 points – 12 more than his total from the first three contests combined – while also contributing 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.

“Tornike Shengelia was an unstoppable force for the Georgians as the team’s heart and soul,” FIBA described in its official recap.

Goga Bitadze was equally impressive, anchoring the paint with 21 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Sandro Mamukelashvili added valuable all-around production with 5 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists, while Cyprus’ Darral Willis did his best to keep the hosts in the game, finishing with 19 points.

The numbers told the story of Georgia’s dominance. Cyprus struggled badly from beyond the arc, managing only 20 percent shooting from deep, while Georgia hit 52 percent of their field goals overall.

Their accuracy from long range was especially punishing, knocking down 15 three-pointers at a 44 percent clip to keep the hosts from mounting any comeback. “Stats don’t lie,” the recap highlighted, underscoring the efficiency gap between the two sides.

For Georgia, the mission is far from over.

“Georgia still have everything to play for in their quest to reach the Round of 16 as they face off against Bosnia and Herzegovina in their final game of the group,” the report concluded.

Cyprus, meanwhile, will get one last shot at history when they try to secure their first-ever EuroBasket win in their closing matchup.
