Reserve center Goga Bitadze had fallen out of the Orlando Magic’s regular rotation lately, appearing in just one of the team’s previous nine games entering Tuesday’s matchup.
But with Wendell Carter Jr. unavailable because of a left ankle injury, Bitadze moved into the starting lineup against Washington and made the most of the opportunity.
The Georgian big man provided a solid all-around performance, recording nine points, six rebounds, two assists, and a blocked shot in 21 minutes on the floor, according to Jason Beede of The Orlando Sentinel.
Teammate Jalen Suggs praised Bitadze’s readiness and impact, highlighting the fundamentals he brings whenever he’s called upon.
“Goga’s the best,” he said about Bitadze. “He’s just in the right spots, sets good screens, rolls (and) has so much gravity when he rolls. And then he’s always behind you ready to block a shot. So, shout out to Goga (for) staying ready.”
Bitadze has played 7 seasons for the Magic and Pacers. He has averaged 5.5 points and 4.2 rebounds in 364 regular-season games.
